Method

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Grease and line two 8-inch round cake tins.
  • Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Add few drops of vanilla essence.
  • Fold in the dry ingredients alternately with the milk until smooth.
  • Add pinch of food colour.
  • Mix gently until each portion has an even colour.
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.

  • Cool completely before frosting.
