Death by Chocolate Cake Recipe
Death by Chocolate cake is not for the faint hearted. It layers chocolate sponge, chocolate ganache, chocolate chips, and creamy frosting into one seriously indulgent dessert. 200 g chopped dark chocolate
·
1 cup of fresh cream

Chocolate Frosting

½ cup butter
·
2 cups of icing sugar

Method
Bake
the Cake
·
Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease and line one 8
inch round tin.
·
Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking
soda in a bowl.
·
In another bowl whisk eggs and sugar until
light. Add oil, milk and vanilla essence.
·
Add dry ingredients and mix gently.
·
Add hot water or coffee and fold till smooth
batter forms.
·
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool completely
and slice into two layers.
Prepare
Ganache
Heat cream till warm, pour
over chopped dark chocolate, wait 1 minute and stir till glossy. Let it cool
slightly.
Make
Chocolate Frosting
Beat butter, icing sugar,
cocoa powder, milk and vanilla essence until creamy and smooth.
Assemble
the Cake
· Place first cake layer on plate. Spread
ganache generously and sprinkle chocolate chips.
· Add second layer and cover the cake with
chocolate frosting.
· Pour remaining ganache on top and let it drip
down the sides.
Decorate
Finish with chocolate
shavings or curls all over the top.
